Blended Service – 8:30 AM
Our Blended Service is a condensed, less formal service with communion served every Sunday. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper by Intinction where the congregation joins together, gathering around the Communion Table as a community. Anyone who has been baptized is invited to take part in communion. During this service our congregation provides the music with hymns, both traditional and contemporary, accompanied by piano.

Traditional Service – 10:30 AM (also livestreamed)
At our Traditional Service, music plays a central role in worship. Led by our joyful Adult Choirs, accompanied by piano and organ, we praise God through song and scripture. Our Handbell Choir and various instrumental ensembles also participate regularly during this service. At the Traditional service, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of every month and we invite anyone who has been baptized to participate in communion.

At Covenant, worship is at the heart of our community of faith. We welcome you to join us in worship and offer two services every Sunday: our Blended Service at 8:30 AM and our Traditional Service at 10:30 AM (also livestreamed).

We look forward to seeing you!

What to Expect

Passing of the Peace

The Passing of the Peace is a great way to meet people and become more acquainted with Covenant. You will find that our friendly congregation is eager to introduce themselves, so feel free to leave your seat and mingle! During this time, we ask that you sign the Fellowship Pad, which can be found in each pew, and pass it along to the other people sitting in your row.

Children’s Message & Children’s Church

Children are welcome and encouraged to worship with their families in both our Blended and Traditional services. In the Narthex you will find children’s worship folders that contain coloring sheets and other activities. Please feel free to take these folders into the sanctuary for your children to use during the service. If you find that your children grow restless, we have a nursery for children ages three and under.

During the 10:30 AM service, children are invited up to the front of the church for the Children’s Message. This brief message is a great introduction into God’s teachings.

Following the Children’s Message, children ages 3 – 1st grade are invited to attend “Covenant Kids” in the Covenant Kids’ Room (Room 4) to learn more about the topic of that morning’s sermon. Children will spend their time learning about the Bible Story, singing songs, playing games, reading books, and/or making crafts related to that morning’s text. Our hope is that this time will give families a lot to talk about after worship.

Nursery

For visitors needing childcare, we have a nursery available for infants and up to age four. The nursery is located on the lower level. Just follow the fish along the baseboard of the halls or ask an usher to direct you!

After the Service

After the service we invite you to stay for fellowship in the breezeway. Enjoy coffee and conversation with our members and learn more about what Covenant has to offer. Sunday School is at 9:30 AM; you can learn more about that here. To find out more about Covenant we invite you to look over the rest of our website, but the best way to get to know us is to visit us in person.

Music Ministry

A group of people, dressed in black, perform with handbells on a stage inside a church with a prominent cross and flowers. At Covenant, we make music to the glory of God. Music unites us in praise of our creator and opens us to God’s presence. We believe, as did St. Augustine, that an individual “who sings prays twice.”

We embrace good church music of the past and of our own time. We use works by many composers, of different styles and levels of difficulty. We select texts and music that reflect our Reformed heritage and speak to our contemporary experience.

We make music with our voices, but with instruments too: a 15-rank Möller pipe organ (1963/1977), Yamaha grand piano, Schulmerich handbells and hand chimes, Orff instruments, African drums and percussion instruments. The sounds of flute, oboe, brass, guitar, or other instruments often enliven our worship.

People at Covenant enjoy hearing music, but they are music makers as well. Singing at the 8:30 AM service is led by a vocalist and pianist; there is no choir. Music at the 10:30 AM service is led by the adult choir and organ, plus the handbell choir monthly. We believe that musicians’ calling is to lead, not perform for, the congregation.

Those of us who participate in the music programs find that we grow both musically and spiritually. We love to meet new music and new music-makers, and we find that making music together contributes in very real ways to each of our Christian journeys. If you are interested in being part of the music program, please let us know; we will welcome you!
